Dental Implants

If you’re missing one or more teeth, then dental implants could be the permanent tooth restoration solution you need to address gaps in your smile. Dental implants offer long-lasting and natural-looking results by placing titanium posts into the jawbone where luminous dental crowns can then be attached. They also require no dietary restrictions and are built to last for life!

We offer the following dental implant systems:

  • Single Dental Implants
  • Implant-Retained Bridges
  • All-on-4® Dental Implants
  • Implant-Retained Overdentures
  • Hybrid Dental Implants

Bone Grafting

diagram showing a bone graftPeriodontal disease can wreak havoc on the jaw bone, making it impossible to support a dental implant without specialized treatment. If you are suffering from gum disease and a weakened jaw bone, then Dr. Barrera may recommend bone grafting (also known as natural bone regeneration) to promote bone growth in the jaw. With this specialized treatment, your jaw bone will begin to regenerate and strengthen itself enough to support a dental implant.

Sinus Lift

Sinus lift surgery, also known as maxillary sinus elevation, is performed for patients who do not have enough bone height to support a dental implant or whose sinuses are too big or too close for an implant. This surgery allows for greater implant stability using a bone graft that is taken from the patient's body, from an allogeneic (human cadaver), or from a xenograft (cow) bone graft. Dr. Barrera or her esteemed colleague Dr. Torres will perform our sinus lift surgeries for our patients who need more secure dental implants.

Ridge Augmentation

diagram of a ridge augmentation procedureAfter tooth extraction, ridge augmentation is performed and involves placing a bone graft directly into the empty socket where the tooth's roots once were. This is done to help recreate the natural shape of the gums and jaw after the tooth is removed. When Dr. Barrera or Dr. Torres provides ridge augmentation surgery, it can prevent jawbone deterioration where a tooth socket once was following a tooth extraction, making it possible for patients to use dentures or receive dental implants in the future.

Ridge augmentation procedures have been proven to benefit the overall health of a patient's smile, and to improve their appearance and boost their confidence. In addition, the ridge augmentation procedure:

  • Recreates a natural bone and gum ridge
  • Improves aesthetic appearance
  • Increases stability for long-term function and oral health
  • Reduces gaps between the gums and dental restorations

Tooth Extractions

Dr. Barrera or Dr. Torres will provide extractions for patients who are experiencing pain and discomfort, or who have an infection caused by a tooth that is damaged beyond repair. In some cases, a surgical extraction may be required, but simple extractions can be performed if the tooth appears above the gum line. Before any extraction, Dr. Barrera will administer a dental exam and take digital x-rays to determine the full extent of the damage.
