Implant-Retained Overdentures

Traditional removable dentures have been the long-standing answer to the replacement of missing teeth; however, dental implants have changed the oral landscape. Implant-retained overdentures are the more convenient, secure method of replacing a full or partial arch of missing teeth. This type of prosthetic eliminates the issues associated with traditional removable dentures.

Dental implants are used to secure the implant-retained overdenture. The prosthetic snaps securely into place on the prepared implant post. This type of denture stays in place and will not shift or dislodge the way traditional dentures can. Dental adhesives are often required to keep removable dentures in place. No adhesives are needed for implant-retained overdentures.

The More Comfortable Reliable Way to Replace Missing Teeth

Implant-retained overdentures provide you with a sense of security that is unmatched with traditional removable dentures. No longer will you need to be concerned about your dentures becoming loose while eating, coughing, sneezing or laughing.

Implant-retained overdentures stay securely in your mouth. It may take a little time to get used to wearing implant-supported dentures, as it does with traditional dentures. However, you do not need to worry about some of the problems of wearing traditional dentures. You will want to be careful with eating certain foods, as small particles can get lodged under the dentures, but they are easily removed by swishing water around in your mouth.

Your new dentures may be so comfortable to wear that you may think about sleeping in them. This is not recommended. Your gums need to rest even with implant-supported dentures. You also want to prevent infections from developing. Keep in mind that you still need to keep your gums and the implant site as clean as possible to ensure that plaque does not build up and cause problems.

When you have many teeth missing and dentures are indicated, consider implant-retained dentures as a comfortable and convenient option. You deserve to be able to live your life without worrying about embarrassment from your dentures, and implant-supported dentures provide you with that security.
